Curley's Hotel, which was destroyed in 1968 by a fire caused by three kids playing with matches, was located on the boardwalk at Beach 116th St. The comedian George Carlin was conceived here during a weekend when his parents escaped the stifling confines of their Bronx apartment in August of 1936.
