Brothers, illustrious graduate of Far Rockaway High School is shown during informal conference with the Fab Four early on in their USA careers - on their first-ever trip "across the pond." A native of New York City, Dr. Brothers graduated from high school in 1943 - her yearbook picture is presented in the January 1944 issue of "The Dolphin" - as Joyce Bauer.

Licensed as a clinical psychologist since 1958, Dr. Brothers gained nationwide prominence in the late 1950s by becoming a top winner on the quiz show "The $64,000. Question." Her area of expertise was "boxing." When asked why she had selected that particular topic, she replied that, at the time, there were only seven definitive books on the subject and she felt she could easily master those and it would be a "sure bet" to a win. In the year 1959, allegations arose questioning the validity and honesty of ail the popular television quiz shows and although it was later proven that most were indeed "rigged," Dr. Brothers maintained that she herself had never cheated in any way nor had she been provided any questions or answers in advance of her appearances. Later criminal investigations "verified her assertions that she had won honestly."

By early 1960, Joyce Brothers was hosting her own (NY) television talk show, dispensing advice about personal relationships. She would eventually claim to have been the very first television psychologist. In addition to authoring several best-selling books and novels, Dr. Brothers has hosted syndicated advice shows on both tv and radio. According to Wikipedia - the free computer encyclopedia - "Dr. Brothers has become an iconic figure, the TV psychologist whose name everyone seems to know."

At the present time, even at the advanced age of 83, Joyce Brothers keeps active by appearing on television and radio, writing monthly columns for a variety of women's magazines, and by cameo appearances on tv shows and in motion pictures. Dr. Brothers currently maintains residency in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
