Contracts for a new
addition, a new wing - were awarded the latter part of
1956. This color oil painting showing the (rear of the)
school building as it would appear upon completion of
the project was a gift from the contractor to the school.
Although there appear to be many minor omissions - such
as a missing entranceway to the pool as well as the absence
of the entire football field - the work is a fairly accurate
representation of the facility. Facing eastbound, Oceancrest
Boulevard is at the right side of the painting. Two second-story
windows which now appear on the facade of the west wing
were originally "nixed" by then-principal Monica
D. Ryan who felt that the addition of those windows would
tend to make the "new wing" look like a face. |
