A SERIES OF E-MAILS

Marty,
This evening, I spent over an hour on the telephone
with a former staff member of Far Rockaway High School. She calls
me from time to time but I hadn't heard from her in over six months.
She is a fan of your "rockaway memories" website. One
of the things we discussed in great detail was Wavecrest Gardens
-- that large apartment complex which for decades "pumped"
so many students through the local schools. According to my friend,
there has been much activity on your website (especially recently)
concerning the apartment residence and she suggested that perhaps
I should write something up about the history of the place -- what
happened to it over the last half century, and what is going on
there today. She even provided me with four internet video links
so I could see what the current owners have done with the apartments
to make them more rentable. One of these short videos even provides
some insight into the current local surrounding community.
A year or so ago, I put together some thoughts
on Wavecrest Gardens but I "shelved" the project because
it became too large and cumbersome . Perhaps it is now time to resurrect
my material to see if I can get some sort of a story out of it.
There does appear to be a lot of on-going interest in the apartment
complex. What do you think?

Stevie,
Sounds like a good idea! Please start on the project
as soon as you find the time. I will contact the current management,
tell them what we plan to do and see if they can provide us with
any information or materials we can use in your article. Is there
anything else I can do to assist you in this endeavor?

Marty,
The biggest problem I can see in contacting the
current management -- I don't want them to think that any article
I write would be considered to be a Public Relations piece. I will
not be kind to Wavecrest Gardens. I am going to be honest! We are
not going to become renting agents for the place.
Wavecrest (Gardens) has touched many lives over
a long period of time -- and I don't plan to re-write history to
make the place more saleable in year 2010.

Stevie,
I will try to obtain additional raw material. You
can craft the piece any way YOU like. I always prefer the truth.
